A new sustainability corner has been set up in the university library on the TU campus. There is now also a seed library where seed-resistant seeds can be exchanged and borrowed. The sustainability corner is located on the first floor, between the elevator shaft and the former glass reading room.
The seed exchange library is for everyone who loves plants and has already discovered or would like to discover their green thumb. According to the motto "our environment should become more colorful" we are looking forward to a lively participation of newcomers, occasional gardeners and people with or without an innate green thumb. The word "library" is not to be understood literally: Any TU member can borrow seeds and try to regain seeds from them. However, since seed production can be complicated and weather-dependent, there is neither a barcode to scan when borrowing nor a loan period. Only seed-resistant varieties that can be reproduced and have stable varietal characteristics are to be exchanged in the exchange box. Seed bags can also be labeled on site with a stamp. A model of a paper pot press and instructions for self-folded seed bags invite visitors to participate and try them out.
There is also a growing range of literature on the topics of plants and seed production. But also literature on issues of sustainability, education for sustainable development and sustainability in the university context can be found in the Sustainability Corner. More information about the Sustainability Corner, the Seed Exchange Box and Diversity of Seeds can be found on the Sustainability Office website.
