TU Dortmund University Sustainability Report
Greetings from the Rectorate
Dear Readers,
By founding the Sustainability Working Group (Arbeitskreis Nachhaltigkeit, AKN) in 2012, the Rectorate of TU Dortmund University sent out a clear signal that sustainable action is one of TU Dortmund University's operational and strategic goals. In 2021, the work of the Working Group resulted in the formulation of the sustainability strategy on the one hand and the establishment of the Sustainability Office on the other, whose employees designed this report and produced it in collaboration with numerous members of TU Dortmund University.
With the Sustainability Report, we have established an instrument that further promotes the joint university-wide dialog on sustainability. It makes transparent how TU Dortmund University fulfills its ecological and social responsibility in the areas of research, teaching, administration and technology. In addition, development potential and challenges in the university's fields of action can be identified.
The starting point for this measure is not least the conviction that we as a university are a model for socially and economically responsible action. Socially, we make our contribution to sustainability and the conservation of resources through the advancement of scientific knowledge and the transfer of knowledge.
We should strive to ensure that sustainability is taken into account in all areas of TU Dortmund University as a matter of course and understood as a joint task for all members and status groups of TU Dortmund University.
We would therefore be delighted if you could also participate in this process. Let us approach together both the minor and major tasks that await us and lead the way in sustainability issues. This Sustainability Report offers various starting points for this.
