In September 2021, a two-day workshop took place at which students, lecturers and employees were able to develop visions and concrete projects for a sustainable TU. The results are now being documented, presented to other departments at TU Dortmund University and the first projects are to be tackled.

How can the TU Dortmund become more sustainable? What does the university of the future look like?

As a major regional employer and as an institution where many young people shape their future, TU Dortmund University bears a special responsibility towards society. In order to live up to this responsibility, promote sustainable innovation and identify starting points for change, the workshop "Campus of the Future" was organised.

Under the motto "just do it", students, lecturers and employees were able to create visions and concrete projects that would transform TU Dortmund into a sustainable university. All members of TU Dortmund University were welcome to develop a common vision for the future in a creative working atmosphere. The resulting projects will be coordinated and implemented by the TU Dortmund University Sustainability Office or initiated where possible.

The workshop format provides a platform for open exchange among lecturers, administrative and research staff and students alike. The participants gained an overview of the topic of sustainability, were able to understand structural connections and support the TU Dortmund in its transformation in the best possible way. The project had already been pursued since the beginning of 2021. The workshop took place on 29 and 30 September 2021.
In the future, the idea of a visionary, interdisciplinary workshop should become established.
