By car

The campus of the TU Dortmund University is located near the freeway junction Dortmund West, where the A45 crosses the B1/A40. The Dortmund-Eichlinghofen exit on the A45 leads to the South Campus, the Dortmund-Dorstfeld exit on the A40 leads to the North Campus. The university is signposted at both exits.

By bus and train

The "Dortmund Universität" S-Bahn station is located directly on the North Campus. From there, the S1 runs every 20 or 30 minutes to Dortmund main station and in the opposite direction to Düsseldorf main station via Bochum, Essen and Duisburg. In addition, the university can be reached by the bus lines 445, 447 and 462. Timetable information can be found on the homepage of the Rhine-Ruhr transport association, and DSW21 also offers an interactive route network map.

The H-Bahn

One of the landmarks of the TU Dortmund is the H-Bahn. Line 1 runs every 10 minutes between Dortmund Eichlinghofen and the Technology Center via Campus South and Dortmund University S, while Line 2 commutes every 5 minutes between Campus North and Campus South. It covers this distance in two minutes.

By plane

From Dortmund Airport, the AirportExpress takes just over 20 minutes to Dortmund main station and from there to the university by S-Bahn. A wider range of international flight connections is offered by Düsseldorf Airport, about 60 kilometers away, which can be reached directly by S-Bahn from the university's train station.

Mr. Schwanke gives his lecture.

About 300 visitors were online or on site for the lecture of the well-known meteorologist and moderator Karsten Schwanke.

Already the welcome by the rector Prof. Dr. Manfred Bayer made it clear that this event would not only be about teaching theory, but also about the connection to daily activities and actions - be it personally or as an institution. In his rousing lecture, Karsten Schwanke proved that he knows the facts - even beyond his narrower field of expertise - and also knows how to convey them. In his own humorous, approachable and empathetic manner, he combined the facts with personal observations, insights and current regional references. He also provided suggestions for journalistic training or press work. Host Stephan Lütz, Dean of the Faculty of Bio- and Chemical Engineering summed it up aptly with the introduction of a new unit of measurement for activation energy at the farewell: "A 'Schwanke' activates a lecture hall." The lecture was followed by a lively discussion.

Schwanke's lecture took place as part of the lecture series Climate: Change, Values, Science, which for the past three years has provided students and the interested public with basic knowledge about the climate crisis and climate protection. The lecture series is part of the certificate "studium oecologicum" of TU Dortmund University, which was designed in cooperation with the sustainability office.
