By car

The campus of the TU Dortmund University is located near the freeway junction Dortmund West, where the A45 crosses the B1/A40. The Dortmund-Eichlinghofen exit on the A45 leads to the South Campus, the Dortmund-Dorstfeld exit on the A40 leads to the North Campus. The university is signposted at both exits.

By bus and train

The "Dortmund Universität" S-Bahn station is located directly on the North Campus. From there, the S1 runs every 20 or 30 minutes to Dortmund main station and in the opposite direction to Düsseldorf main station via Bochum, Essen and Duisburg. In addition, the university can be reached by the bus lines 445, 447 and 462. Timetable information can be found on the homepage of the Rhine-Ruhr transport association, and DSW21 also offers an interactive route network map.

The H-Bahn

One of the landmarks of the TU Dortmund is the H-Bahn. Line 1 runs every 10 minutes between Dortmund Eichlinghofen and the Technology Center via Campus South and Dortmund University S, while Line 2 commutes every 5 minutes between Campus North and Campus South. It covers this distance in two minutes.

By plane

From Dortmund Airport, the AirportExpress takes just over 20 minutes to Dortmund main station and from there to the university by S-Bahn. A wider range of international flight connections is offered by Düsseldorf Airport, about 60 kilometers away, which can be reached directly by S-Bahn from the university's train station.

Goal 13: Climate action

SDG 13 is divided into several sub-goals. It provides for strengthening resilience and adaptive capacity to climate-related hazards (13.1), mainstreaming climate action into national policies and strategies (13.2), and improving human and institutional capacities in the field of climate change mitigation and adaptation (13.3).

Internationally, this is to be achieved by jointly mobilising 100 billion US dollars annually by 2020 from private and public sources to support developing countries (13.a), as well as promoting planning and management capacities in the least developed countries (13.b).

The paper consumption and the proportion of recycled paper at the university are to be documented, visually processed and communicated. In this way, a contribution is to be made to reducing paper and increasing the proportion of recycled paper.

For several years now, TU Dortmund University has regularly taken part in the comparison of universities in the 'Paper Atlas' of the Initiative Pro Recycling Paper. The aim of the initiative is to reduce paper consumption overall and to increase the proportion of recycled paper, which saves CO2, water and energy.

TU Dortmund's sustainability strategy states the goal of reducing paper consumption by 10% by 2021. In addition, the recycled paper quota is to increase to 80% by 2025.

Data on paper consumption has been collected, visualised and published on the homepage and on social media. This is to create awareness and a starting point for the goals set. In the long term, the data and visualisations can also help to persuade TU Dortmund institutions to switch to recycled paper.
