- Nachhaltigkeitsbüro

The Summer School for Sustainability, developed as a basic module for Dortmund University's "studium oecologicum" sustainability certificate, was awarded with the 2024 Teaching Award in the category for courses with fewer than 60 participants. It is a collaborative project between committed international students, lecturers from the spatial modeling lab and the Institute of Psychology as well as staff from the Sustainability Office.
The Summer School offers students a hands-on learning experience by linking global frameworks such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) findings to sustainability challenges at TU Dortmund University(read more). A highlight of the Summer School is the interactive simulation game Sustain2030, which immerses participants in political negotiations and promotes collaboration, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
The teaching award was presented at the 2024 Academic Anniversary Celebration, an event to recognize the achievements of university staff over the past year. This award underlines the value of interdisciplinary and practical approaches to tackling sustainability issues in the academic environment and motivates the planning team to give their all to make the Summer School for Sustainability in summer 2025 even better.
