As part of the first Humboldtⁿ meeting on May 31, 2022, the poster exhibition "Humboldtⁿ focused: under pressure." was opened.
On May 31, the kick-off meeting of Humboldtn took place at Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität in Münster. The participants included rectors and students from the universities of North Rhine-Westphalia as well as representatives of various NGOs and the business community. The state's Minister for Culture and Science, Isabel Pfeiffer-Poensgen, also took part in the meeting: "By founding the Humboldtn sustainability initiative, the state's universities have made it clear that they are living up to their responsibility to jointly pursue sustainability goals in research, teaching, administration and infrastructure and to make significant contributions to a successful transformation process towards sustainability. The exchange between academia, business and society at the kick-off event was an important step on this path."
The program included keynotes on new perspectives on sustainability issues and on proposed solutions for dealing with areas of tension in sustainability. In addition, the poster exhibition "Humboldt focused: Under pressure. Sustainability and its areas of tension", in which all universities of North Rhine-Westphalia are participating, was opened. On the basis of the sustainability projects presented on the posters, discussions could be held with representatives of the universities. The TU Dortmund University was also represented at the conference and contributed a poster to the exhibition presenting the studium oecologicum as a first step in the field of education for sustainable development as well as challenges in the field of building renovation and legal framework.
Finally, a panel discussion with representatives of all sectors of society took place, where clear expectations for Humboldtn were formulated and supported by the audience and summarized by Prof. Holger Burckhart (Rector of the University of Siegen, speaker Humboldtn): Strengthen commonalities of the universities, bundle and act inspired from this in exchange with all social actors.
As part of the first Humboldtⁿ Conference on May 31, 2022, the poster exhibition "Humboldtⁿ focused: Under pressure. Sustainability and its areas of tension" opened.
At a poster exhibition, NRW's 16 universities present diverse projects on areas of tension in sustainability, and the research location North Rhine-Westphalia presents itself in all its facets around the topic of sustainability with this traveling exhibition. Conflicting goals of sustainable research approaches or on the transfer track will be made clear.
In the coming months, the posters will tour through NRW, including the state parliament, the Wuppertal Institute and, of course, the universities. Numerous events and supporting programs will take place at the locations, about which we will keep you up to date in our channels.
