The campus is to be made more bicycle-friendly. To this end, a survey was conducted in 2017 by the Sustainability Working Group. Furthermore, new parking facilities are continuously being built on campus.

The cycle paths to and on the TU Dortmund campus are already used by many students and employees. In order to convince even more TU members to travel by bike, the Sustainability Working Group is working on making the campus more bike-friendly. To this end, a survey was conducted that included questions about bicycle use, parking, comfort and safety on campus.

The survey ran until 4 July 2017 and the data was analysed by the Department of University Development and Organisation. All data was of course processed in compliance with data protection regulations.

The survey results show that there is a need for improvement in some places on campus with regard to bicycle parking. The dominant wish is the installation of weather-protected parking facilities. The first such bike houses have been available for use since 2020.

Cycling mobility also plays a role in the sustainability strategy adopted in 2021.
