Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialisation and support innovation

Goal 9: Industry, innovation und infrastructure

Goal 9 is divided into several sub-goals. To support economic prosperity and well-being for all, Goal 9.1 aims to build reliable and resilient infrastructure. Sustainable industrialisation aims to double the share of industry in employment and GDP in developing countries by 2030,
by giving smaller (industrial) access to financial services and affordable credit (9.2 + 9.3). To this end, the modernisation of infrastructure and industry with a focus on environmentally sound technologies, as well as the promotion of scientific and industrial research and development as well as access to the internet (9.4, 9.5) is necessary.

In particular, the least developed countries should be supported in building up their infrastructure (9.a). Research and development should be made possible with a supportive political environment and broad access to communication and information technology (9.b, 9.c).

In order to motivate employees and students of TU Dortmund University to travel by bicycle, the bicycle parking facilities have been expanded.

As part of its sustainability strategy, TU Dortmund University has set out to create secure bicycle parking at the university in order to increase bicycle mobility on campus.

A bicycle parking facility was put into operation under the Mensabrücke in April 2023. A total of 84 parking spaces are available there, which are 4 times overbooked, so that 336 transponders are available for the bicycle parking facility. All TU members can apply each semester in a lottery procedure.

In addition, the bicycle hub from the InnaMoRuhr research project is now permanently located at the small parking lot directly at the EF50 building.
