By car

The campus of the TU Dortmund University is located near the freeway junction Dortmund West, where the A45 crosses the B1/A40. The Dortmund-Eichlinghofen exit on the A45 leads to the South Campus, the Dortmund-Dorstfeld exit on the A40 leads to the North Campus. The university is signposted at both exits.

By bus and train

The "Dortmund Universität" S-Bahn station is located directly on the North Campus. From there, the S1 runs every 20 or 30 minutes to Dortmund main station and in the opposite direction to Düsseldorf main station via Bochum, Essen and Duisburg. In addition, the university can be reached by the bus lines 445, 447 and 462. Timetable information can be found on the homepage of the Rhine-Ruhr transport association, and DSW21 also offers an interactive route network map.

One of the landmarks of the TU Dortmund is the H-Bahn. Line 1 runs every 10 minutes between Dortmund Eichlinghofen and the Technology Center via Campus South and Dortmund University S, while Line 2 commutes every 5 minutes between Campus North and Campus South. It covers this distance in two minutes.

By plane

From Dortmund Airport, the AirportExpress takes just over 20 minutes to Dortmund main station and from there to the university by S-Bahn. A wider range of international flight connections is offered by Düsseldorf Airport, about 60 kilometers away, which can be reached directly by S-Bahn from the university's train station.

Protect, restore and sustainably use terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, halt and reverse soil degradation, halt biodiversity loss

Goal 15: Life on land

The goal is divided into several sub-goals. The aim is to achieve comprehensive protection, restoration and sustainable use of ecosystems. Sub-goal 15.1 focuses on the conservation of terrestrial and inland freshwater ecosystems, while 15.3 addresses desertification and soil quality protection and 15.4 mountain ecosystems. Sub-goal 15.2 makes sustainable management of all forest types, ending deforestation and rebuilding degraded forests and afforestation the goal. Sub-targets 15.5 to 15.8 aim primarily to address the loss of biodiversity, including through the fair and equitable sharing of benefits arising from the use of genetic resources (15.6), urgent action to combat poaching and trafficking of protected plant and animal species (15.7) or preventing the introduction of invasive alien species (15.8). Finally, ecosystem and biodiversity values should be integrated into decision-making processes (15.9).

The means of implementation is a significant increase in financial resources for the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity and ecosystems (15.a) and provides for substantial funding for sustainable forest management, combined with appropriate incentives for developing countries (15.b). In addition, the fight against poaching and trade in protected species is to be strengthened (15.c).

In spring, joint planting campaigns will be invited on campus to make the TU greener, more colourful and insect-friendly.

Another step towards a feel-good campus is more plants and flowers. Plans have already been developed together with Department 6 to make the campus greener and more colourful with the help of new plants.

For the implementation, action days and events will be invited during the spring.

We are also in contact with Rombergpark to organise joint planting campaigns there.
