On April 1, 2022, the doors of the large daycare center at 2c Wilhelm Dilthey Street on the South Campus will open.

New opening on April 1: The large day care "Schlauschlümpfe" offers nine new places for children of university members.

With the construction of two new daycare centers on the South Campus, the TU Dortmund University continues to invest in a better balance between work and study and family. The first of the two is now going into operation.

On April 1, 2022, the doors of the large day care center in Wilhelm-Dilthey-Strasse 2c on the South Campus will open. The new building is spacious and up to the latest energy standards and features a large garden, green roof, a solar system and a wooden facade. "We are hugely excited about the additional childcare spaces on campus. This will help to better meet the high demand for childcare for TU parents," says Dr. Ute Zimmermann, head of the Equal Opportunity, Family and Diversity Office.

The care of the nine children aged between two months and three years will be provided by trained daycare staff. The core hours of care are between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.; individual needs of parents can be taken into account in consultation with the daycare providers.

Regardless of their place of residence, university members, i.e. employees as well as students, can apply for free places. The parental contribution is based - as in other facilities - on the applicable regulations of the city of Dortmund or the city in which the child is registered.

Interested parents can now find all documents and information on the Family Service website.
