By car

The campus of the TU Dortmund University is located near the freeway junction Dortmund West, where the A45 crosses the B1/A40. The Dortmund-Eichlinghofen exit on the A45 leads to the South Campus, the Dortmund-Dorstfeld exit on the A40 leads to the North Campus. The university is signposted at both exits.

By bus and train

The "Dortmund Universität" S-Bahn station is located directly on the North Campus. From there, the S1 runs every 20 or 30 minutes to Dortmund main station and in the opposite direction to Düsseldorf main station via Bochum, Essen and Duisburg. In addition, the university can be reached by the bus lines 445, 447 and 462. Timetable information can be found on the homepage of the Rhine-Ruhr transport association, and DSW21 also offers an interactive route network map.

The H-Bahn

One of the landmarks of the TU Dortmund is the H-Bahn. Line 1 runs every 10 minutes between Dortmund Eichlinghofen and the Technology Center via Campus South and Dortmund University S, while Line 2 commutes every 5 minutes between Campus North and Campus South. It covers this distance in two minutes.

By plane

From Dortmund Airport, the AirportExpress takes just over 20 minutes to Dortmund main station and from there to the university by S-Bahn. A wider range of international flight connections is offered by Düsseldorf Airport, about 60 kilometers away, which can be reached directly by S-Bahn from the university's train station.

The bicycle parking facility under the Mensa bridge creates a secure parking area for bicycles.

As part of its sustainability strategy, TU Dortmund University has undertaken to create secure bicycle parking at the university. For this purpose, a bicycle parking facility is being built under the Mensa bridge. The fencing work has already been completed. Commissioning is planned for April (from the 13th calendar week) this year.

You can now apply for a parking space, which will then be distributed by lot among the applications received. You will then have a parking space for 1 semester. At the end of the summer semester there will be a new application phase with a lottery. There will be a total of 84 parking spaces available. We assume that not all users will store their bikes there all the time and therefore issue more transponders than there are parking spaces. We want to offer as many TU members as possible a secure parking facility. Therefore, there are 126 transponders for the bicycle parking facility under the Mensa bridge for the upcoming summer semester.

Currently, the facility is open until the transponder emission and offers rain-proof parking spaces so that cyclists can already test the facility.

If you would like to apply, please fill out this form by 03/15/2023. If we receive too many applications, the lottery will decide. You will be notified when the parking spaces have been distributed and you have been given a place. Then we will contact you with all further information about the distribution of the transponders.

Update: Registration is closed for this semester (SoSe 2023). For the coming winter semester 2023/24, the bicycle parking facility will be raffled again.
